After a career at the Financial Times and Mintel, Richard Hyman founded Verdict, a specialist retail research consultancy in 1984. The business advised major retailers, suppliers, landlords and investors across the industry. He sold the business to Datamonitor PLC in September 2005 . After five years as Strategic Advisor to Deloitte, Richard formed his own advisory firm RAH Advisory Ltd in 2012.

In 2020 Richard joined TPC (Thought Provoking Consulting) as a Partner, still advising retail Boards and leadership teams. He continues to act as an independent media commentator on the industry.
